Our Associate Pastor of Family Life- The Reverend Rocky Sheneman grew up in Ohio. His experience as a church lay leader during challenging times gives him solid insight into congregational life. He is a graduate of Kent State University where he studied Business Administration with an emphasis on Human Resources. He earned his Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis. While attending Eden, The Reverend Sheneman received clinical pastoral education at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a world-class facility with six level-one trauma units. He also traveled to Ghana with several seminary friends and studied the local culture, attending their churches and building a library at one of their seminaries.
The Reverend Sheneman came to Bethlehem UCC in June 2006. He brings an awareness of recent academic insight into areas such as Christian education and the historical Jesus. He's excited about the gospel and shares the Reverend Stroshine's philosophy of empowering people for ministry.
"One thing that is essential for equipping the church for ministry is theological education of the laity. How should 21st century thinkers think about God and think about the Bible? The way we think about these things will shape the way we think about the church's origin, purpose, and who matters."
The Reverend Sheneman encourages families to be smaller versions of the larger faith community, even encouraging them to think about vision and a family mission statement. His family includes his wife, Stephanie, and two children.
